These are jicama fries. A healthier alternative to french fries! And I feel like I have to say this, but if you're craving french fries, go get yourself french fries. But on those days that you want to stick with your healthy eating, this recipe is for you. I highly recommend you air fry the jicama fries. I'm not sure how they would turn out in the oven, but you can always try it out!
Ingredients:
Makes about 3 cups of jicama fries
- One whole jicama
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- flaky salt for finishing (optional but highly recommended)
Directions:
- Chop the jicama up into french fries. I recommend going about 4 inches in length, and 1/2-1/4 of an inch in width.
- Boil in a pot for a minimum of 20 minutes, until the jicama is not longer crunchy.
- Drain the jicama and dry.
- Transfer to a bowl and toss evenly with olive oil, and spices.
- Add your jicama fries to your air fryer in batches to avoid over crowding.
- Air fry at 400 for about 15 minutes depending on the size of your jicama fries. 20 minutes is usually the max I will air fry for.
- Plate and sprinkle some flaky salt on top.
I love a good chipotle mayo with these fries. Be careful when taking these fries out of your air fryer because they will be super hot. Enjoy as many as you'd like, since you're enjoying a processed fat-free, low calorie, low fat snack!
